Under grants from the State Energy Conservation Office, the
Railroad Commission of Texas has developed three electronic courses, two on automotive
applications of alternative fuels and one on converting groundskeeping equipment to propane. Introduction to Alternative Fuels is an entry-level course consisting of 12 chapters and 260 screens. The course covers the history, laws, technology and applications relating to vehicles powered by propane, natural gas, electricity and other alternative fuels. LPG Vehicle Diagnostics & Troubleshooting is an advanced course for experienced automotive technicians. The course's 11 chapters and 440 screens cover the characteristics and properties of propane motor fuel, operation and diagnosis of LPG fuel-system components, electronic controls, and tuning for emissions and performance. Converting Grounds Equipment to Propane explains how to install and troubleshoot propane fuel systems on utility engines. The course includes system descriptions and installation guidelines for both vapor-fed systems under 25 hp and liquid-fed systems 25 hp and larger.
